Workout Details and Review
Quick Burn Cardio, released on November 30th by Lions Gate Films, is the newest home workout DVD by Denise Austin. The workout, designed to boost metabolism, burn calories and melt fat, consists of two circuit-training workouts. The first workout is an all-cardio workout with intervals that build in intensity and conclude with active recovery standing abdominal sculpting. The second workout is a cardio and weights circuit that uses multi-joint combination exercises to keep the heart rate elevated and continue burning calories. Each of the two workouts is twenty minutes in length. In addition to the two main workout segments, the DVD includes a separate five minute warm-up and cool-down. From the main menu, you can choose any one of the segments; there is not a play all option. The DVD, however, contains a programmable feature that allows you to customize the workout. After customizing the workouts or choosing an individual segment, the workout also provides a full audio option or a music-only option.
Denise Austin is a true fitness icon; her name is synonymous with home workouts, having sold more than 25 million copies of her workouts. I too have been the proud owner of many of her workouts so I was happy to have a chance to try her latest workout Quick Burn Cardio. The Interval Training workout on the DVD contains powerful cardio moves including plyometric squat jumps, burpees and lateral skates. The Circuit Training workout was full of multi-joint exercises, unilateral strength moves and cross body rotational moves that challenge your balance, engage the core and work the whole body. The circuit workout includes mountain climbers, renegade rows and dumbbell swings.
Quick Burn Cardio is a great workout for all fitness levels and can be easily modified to bring the intensity up or down. I found the workout to be fun with a variety of unique and challenging exercises. Lately, I’ve been enjoying shorter yet super-efficient workouts that get in there and get the job done. Quick Burn Cardio falls into this category; it is a great cardio interval workout that gets a lot done in a short amount of time. Denise Austin is an excellent instructor; her presence in the fitness industry for so long is a testament to that. She is encouraging and friendly and offers motivation throughout the workout.
