Shrink Your Fat Zones Pilates, released on November 30th by Lions Gate Films, is the newest home workout DVD by Denise Austin.  The workout, with a total running time of forty-six minutes, is designed to target typical stubborn areas with the use of specialized Pilates techniques.  Shrink Your Fat Zones Pilates consists of three separate fifteen minute workouts: one that zeroes in on the midsection, core and abs; one to target the upper body and arms; and one to reshape and tone the lower body.  From the main menu, you have the option to choose from the three separate workouts; there is not a play all option.  The DVD, however, contains a custom feature that allows you to program and customize the workout based on your preferences and time available to exercise.  After customizing the workout or choosing an individual segment, you have the option to select the full audio mix or music-only option.  The menu also features Denise’s 21-Day recommendation for the program.  Equipment for the workout includes a light set of dumbbells, a mat and a towel.

Each of the three workouts on Shrink Your Fat Zones Pilates targets specific problem areas. In the first workout, Denise targets the core with standard Pilates mat based exercises.  In this section she uses a towel to assist and add resistance in many of the exercises.  In the second workout, the focus shifts to upper body. In this segment a light set of dumbbells is used to work the muscles of the upper body and arms.  The third workout focuses on the legs, butt and thighs with unweighted lower body exercises.

Denise Austin is a well-know fitness instructor that has been in the fitness industry for many years.  As with her other workouts, her bubbly enthusiastic personality seeks to encourage, motivate and offer support throughout the workout.  She offers form pointers and even checks on the background exercisers in the workout.  This workout is best used for a light workout, recovery day or using one of the individual segments as an add-on to another workout.
