Review: Bob Harper Kettlebell Cardio Shred

Bob Harper Kettlebell Cardio Shred Review and Details

Kettlebell Cardio Shred is a non-stop, fifty-plus minute, high-intensity kettlebell strength and cardio workout. Led by Bob Harper, and the latest edition to his Inside Out Method, the workout is designed to burn calories, melt fat and sculpt muscles. Bob is joined in the workout by one background exerciser. While Bob joins in for some of the exercises, the workout is taught trainer-student style with Bob coaching the majority of the time. The only equipment needed for the workout is a kettlebell. Though the only option from the main menu is to select play, the workout is nicely chaptered so you can skip through various exercises.

Kettlebell Cardio Shred begins with a basic, dynamic warm-up. Bob gradually transitions from the warm-up to introducing the kettlebell, tapping the horn of the kettlebell while doing squats. Once properly warmed-up, the main workout begins with a staple kettlebell exercise, the swing, with a mix of double arm swings, one armed swings and alternating swings. The workout also includes cleans, snatches, one arm rows, windmills and wood chops using the kettlebell. In addition to kettlebell exercises, Bob also adds in pushups, burpees, high knee runs and lunges to elevate the heart rate and maximize calorie burn. The exercises are put together in various high-intensity circuits. The workout concludes with one final circuit, recapping all the exercises, and a cool down and stretch.

Bob Harper’s Kettlebell Cardio Shred is a high-intensity, total body, circuit kettlebell workout. The workout efficiently and effectively combines strength training and cardio together with the use of the kettlebell. Bob Harper does a very good job with instruction, detailing out the exercises, giving form pointers and stressing the importance of proper technique with a kettlebell. There are a few instances where the background exerciser’s form begins to suffer and Bob uses it as an opportunity to remind the exerciser to focus on form, take breaks as needed or perform the exercises without weight.
