Breathless Body Details and Review

Breathless Body, with a total running time of approximately fifty-six minutes, is for you! Created and led by fitness instructor Amy Dixon, Breathless Body is a high intensity interval training (HIIT) Tabata-inspired workout. This drill based interval cardio workout is designed to melt fat, incinerate calories, test your endurance and leave you breathless. The workout consists of eight Tabata-inspired drills. For each drill, three different intensity levels are shown. Each drill is structured in intervals of 20 seconds of all-out effort followed by only 10 seconds of rest, repeated eight times. Amy Dixon is joined by two background exercisers who help Amy show the three different intensity levels in the workout.
Breathless Body is nicely chaptered into twelve separate sections. In addition to the eight separate drill intervals, you will find a chapter for the Warm-Up, Intro, Cool Down and Stretch. From the main menu you can select any of the above chapters or the Play All option. The Play All option, however, includes the introduction which you may want to skip past after your first workout. No equipment is necessary for this workout, making it the perfect anytime, anywhere workout.
Breathless Body begins with a thorough athletic five-minute warm-up that prepares you for the intensity that lies ahead. Each drill begins with Amy demonstrating the three intensity levels for the exercise in the drill. The first drill, Power Jacks, for example consists of Regular Jacks (Level 1), Power Jacks (Level 2) and Air Jacks (Level 3). After showing the three levels, it is time to hiit (pun intended) the first Tabata with twenty seconds of work and only ten seconds of rest repeated eight times for a total on four minutes. Once the drill is complete there is a brief active recovery while Amy illustrates the three intensity levels for the exercise in the next drill. The remaining drills consist of speed skaters, hot feet, core kicks, boxer jumps, pogo jumps, burpees and power lunges. The workout concludes with a much warranted cool down and stretch.
Breathless Body is a fun, cardiovascular, high energy, high intensity interval workout. The genius of the workout lies in its simplicity. You won’t find any complex choreography here - but that’s not to say the workout is easy. The workout is very athletic in nature with moves that are easy to follow yet offer a challenge. Amy Dixon is an extraordinary instructor with a great screen presence. Amy is warm, friendly and encouraging throughout the workout. She offers excellent form pointers and cues exceptionally throughout the workout. Breathless Body is a great workout that exercisers from all levels can use because you choose your intensity; Amy encourages you to modify when needed and motivates you to push past your comfort zone when you are able. I really enjoyed Breathless Body and look forward to doing this workout again and again.
